On Monday 28th of May 2018 there was held a ELS day of Private Vocational School PRO SCHOLARIS in cultural centre Stanica Záriečie. During this unforgettable day students from the school´s ELS team had a chance to present ELS project not only to the rest of their schoolmates but also to the the public and primary schools in Žilina.

The school project manager explained what the project is and the students Sabína Zajačková, and Nikola Katrenčínová presented their annual project. Sabina´s work was focused on Healthy nutrition and questionnaire realized among Pro scholaris students. The project analysed their eating habits.

The teacher Ms. Kostka Mikulová, who is a specialist in healthy nutrition and workout, also explained the topic to the students. Nikola visited Employment office in Slovakia and she explained all the of job searching and with all the activities of the office (the retraining courses, the graduate’s experience…).

We also played a group competition. It consisted of four disciplines. First at all the students made a kahoot quiz about healthy eating habits. They guessed calories in different kind of food and they had to prepare and defend their own eating plan. The project ELS is also about the mobile apps, so the students used them for counting steps during the last discipline. The participants could win interesting prizes and took beautiful memories.

Polish students and healthy nutrition!! After mobility in Greece Polish students tried to teach their schoolmates everything they’d learned in Volos. They tried to improve their peers’ diet and make it healthier. We had a lot of fun, this is what it looked like! 🙂 😉

It’s been almost a year since project ELS started. Students from ELS club presented to their peers what they had worked on in areas of two of the project topics: nutrition and human resources. They created a questionnare, presentations  and they tried to make life style of students at Pro scholaris healthier.  They also acquainted their classmates with the possibilities of job searching and with all the activities of Employment office in Slovakia such as the retraining courses, the graduate’s experience, the program Štart etc. #projectELS#schoolcurriculum#topics#SúkromnáSOŠProscholaris#

Recently Italian Erasmus students presented and shared their formative experience in Greece to their mates, talking about an overall significance of the meeting but, above all, the importance of a balanced, healthy diet. This latter, as we know, is one of the main topics of the ELS Erasmus project.
In a second moment, during some lessons of Biology, students were involved in this topic by discussing their food intake, the importance of a healthy food hygiene, the food groups, the Mediterranean diet.
By using the ESA model (Engage, Study, Activate), the students’ interest was captured in order to engage their emotions through a game, the use of pictures, PPT, a video sequence, an amusing anecdote, etc; then, they focused on information (study); in the end, they used their full knowledge in the selected situation or task (activate).
For example, as a task, they had to imagine to be an important chef so as to prepare an healthy menu including Mediterranean recipes, working in pair or in group (cooperative learning).
In the pictures below, some moments of these different phases.
