We like to share the news about our projects with large audiences so…. The regional press media MY published the article about the end of the Erasmus+ projects at Pro scholaris.
From 8th to 12th of January 2019 Súkromná SOŠ Pro scholaris (Private Vocational School Pro Scholaris)hosted the learning/ training /teaching activity of Erasmus + project called Essential Life Skills. This is a short video about all the activities held in Slovakia.
On 29th November 2018, 97 students of the Private Vocational School Pro scholaris and other pupils from the regional primary and secondary schools had the opportunity to attend ELS Day, that was a part of the school’s Erasmus Day. From 8 a.m. till 12 p.m. they participated in workshops and seminars. Invited guest, Ms Kristína Zadňančinová, expert for healthy diet, explained the basic characteristics of healthy lifestyle. During the workshop realized in one of the classrooms, the students discussed with her their eating habits and physical activity. The teachers of economy and marketing prepared workshops focused on bank products and household economy. During one of the seminars, the participants could discover their personal strengths and weaknesses thanks to the special personal survey, they also created their CVs and cover letters using the Europass template.
On 23th of October 2018 the pupils of the thrid class of Pro scholaris accompanied by a teacher Ing. A. Uhláriková attended a business meeting named “Inspirational Meeting” with Ing. Ivana Tvrdovská, PhD. The meeting was realizated as a part of the topic from the project ELS – Carreer consulting. It took place at the Secondary vocational school of Joseph the Worker. Apart from Slovak students there were other participants from the Business Academy of Saint Thomas Aquinas. The meeting was organized by Civic Association for Business (A. Tvrda and Renáta Fogeltonová). The entrepreneur Ivan Tvrdovská has been engaged in confectionery production for 10 years under the Tvrdovski logo. The confectionery company is located in Štiavnik village and in Zilina in the center the businesswoman runs the candy-store Tvrdovski. The entrepreneur described the beginnings and the present day of her business, gave them all the experience, familiarized them with the difficulties of craftsmanship in the Slovak Republic, the unpromising legislation of small business … In the end, discussions took place, joint photography and pupils received presentations in the form of gingerbreaks with the company logo. The meeting was really inspiring for the pupils. The acquired knowledge can be used by the pupils in teaching especially in the subject of the training company but also in other economic subjects and also in the future in their own business.

On Monday 28th of May 2018 there was held a ELS day of Private Vocational School PRO SCHOLARIS in cultural centre Stanica Záriečie. During this unforgettable day students from the school´s ELS team had a chance to present ELS project not only to the rest of their schoolmates but also to the the public and primary schools in Žilina.
The school project manager explained what the project is and the students Sabína Zajačková, and Nikola Katrenčínová presented their annual project. Sabina´s work was focused on Healthy nutrition and questionnaire realized among Pro scholaris students. The project analysed their eating habits.
The teacher Ms. Kostka Mikulová, who is a specialist in healthy nutrition and workout, also explained the topic to the students. Nikola visited Employment office in Slovakia and she explained all the of job searching and with all the activities of the office (the retraining courses, the graduate’s experience…).
We also played a group competition. It consisted of four disciplines. First at all the students made a kahoot quiz about healthy eating habits. They guessed calories in different kind of food and they had to prepare and defend their own eating plan. The project ELS is also about the mobile apps, so the students used them for counting steps during the last discipline. The participants could win interesting prizes and took beautiful memories.
On Tuesday 5, 2018 there was held a meeting of the students of Private Vocational School PRO SCHOLARIS with the president of Žilina self-governing region, Ing. Erika Jurinová.
At the beginning of the meeting, one of the teachers introduced the school, its study programmes, after-school activities and also the European projects Erasmus+ in which this school has been participating successfully for several years.
Later on, Ing. Erika Jurinová was talking about her political career in Slovakia and about her function in the regional policy. She explained the main goals of the development of Žilina self-governing region in the following years.
The president talked about basic life skills which are necessary for carrying out her function. Also, she reminded the students of the importance of education in many fields.
At the end of the meeting she was trying to answer the students´ questions.
We would like to thank Ing. Erika Jurinová for visiting our school and having a very interesting discussion with us. We wish her to achieve all her goals while helping to fulfill the needs of the people in the region of Žilina.
The aim of the project is to cooperate and share the learning and teaching knowledge and experiences in the field of practical life skills – a subject often neglected in the schools’ academically-oriented curricula
